| Start of Construction September 1997 Completion October 1998 Construction Costs 10,48 Mio € Colourful bathing landscapes The large-area leisure complex known as the all-weather complex Osterholz-Scharmbeck was modernised and extended by the architects to the latest building and technical standards, taking the original character into consideration. The variable telescopic hall, which is dependent upon the weather unique in Germany determines the design concept, which presents a diverse and variable bathing landscape. The successful character as an all-weather complex has been retained Since the 1970s, the all-weather complex Osterholz-Scharmbeck with its variable telescopic hall has developed into a popular leisure and local recreation facility. Defects in the building substance, the technical systems, unprofitable distribution of water areas and the lack of water feature attractions have led to the decision to undertake the repair, modernisation and extension of the complex with a site area of 26,600 m2. The indoor swimming pool shall remain as a variable hall with renovated ceilings and a stripped-out building at the fixed gable end. The entrance foyer with its canopy roof and the designed forecourt with benches and green areas was newly constructed and all window and façade elements were renewed including the steel sheet connections. Diverse different installations make the complex a commercially operated facility. Therefore new paddling pools, massage and fun pools were built inside and outside after the demolition of the former non-swimmers and paddling pool. A colourful, closed crawling pipe in the form of a dragon spouting water connects the paddling pools. There are water slides and dry areas on the inside. Baby-changing facilities are assigned to these. Among other things, additional extras are a cold-water treading pool and a torrent channel. The sauna area, which is independent and can be accessed above the swimming complex, offers all the popular types of sauna and standards up to seating areas and an open fire. |
