| Urban development situation The existing open-air pool complex of the Stadt Rheine was more than 30 years old. It contained a paddling pool, a multi-purpose pool of approx. 20 x 50 m with attached diving trench. The pool was leaking and there was no water treatment plant as required by the todays DIN regulations. Following several considerations regarding planning and costs, the supervisory board decided to reduce the overall water areas and to subdivide the water areas anew according to user groups, with a swimming pool 16 2/3 m x 25 m and an approx. 600-m2 play and splash pool, as well as to install a water treatment system in accordance with DIN 19643. From open-air leisure complex to family leisure complex Following the restoration and the rearrangement of the pools, an increase in visitors could be registered. At the same time, the visitor groups have shifted. Before modernisation, the proportion of youths was 70 %, the proportion of adults 30 %. After modernisation, the proportion of youths adults is 50 % / 50 %. Therefore, the open-air leisure complex has become more of a family leisure complex. |
